What’s the difference between a Virtual Consultation and a Virtual Session?

A virtual consultation is a free 15 minute conversation with one of our acupuncturists to answer any questions you might have about our virtual sessions or eastern medicine. Our virtual session is a 30 minute deep dive into the heart of the matter  are you struggling with insomnia, suffering from migraines, feeling hormonal? These are just a few.

 

What should I expect?

Think of your session as a check-up for your body & mind. Your acupuncturist will ask the nature of your virtual visit; what focus area (if any) is troubling you and help you either achieve or optimize a balanced chi. Your assessment may include questions about your sleep, diet, and current mood, including:

 

  • Noting what foods you consume — are they typically hot or cold? 
  • Asking about your sleep — do you wake up tired or energized? Do you struggle with insomnia? 
  • Discussing your medical history
  • Discussing your relationships
  • Examining your tongue

 

If you’re struggling with a disorder or disease, your acupuncturist will spend time discussing various pressure points in the body and their usefulness in balancing the qi flow — or energy flow. At the end of your session, your acupuncturist may suggest herbal remedies, light movement, a nutrition plan, or prescribe “homework” in order to track your progress. 

 

Your acupuncturist may ask to see your tongue. Here’s why.

By observing the general appearance, physical shape, color, and texture of your tongue, your acupuncturist has insight into the state of your health, subtle nuances that can shed light on vibrancy and illness. 

 

Where does the session take place?

Your session will take place over Zoom. We recommend a calm, quiet space so you feel comfortable, but we can accommodate most situations (we’ve even had guests hold sessions while driving).

 

What should I wear?

Since some sessions may include light movement, we recommend loose, comfortable clothing.

 

How many sessions until it is effective?

Everyone’s treatment is unique. You may feel results ranging from one to several sessions. We’ll assess your condition each session so you can understand your treatment journey.

 

How do I book an appointment?

To select your appointment time, simply create an account and book online. We look forward to meeting you! 

 

Why do you need my credit card before my appointment?

Your card will only be charged after your service. However, we keep it on file in case of no shows or late cancellations.

 

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express (AMEX), and Discover. 

 

Do I Tip?

We have a no-tipping policy.

 

How do I change or cancel an appointment?

If it’s more than 24 hours before your appointment, you can cancel or adjust your time slot through our website or by calling us at (646) 478-7100. If it’s within 24 hours of your appointment, we have a $20 cancellation and no-show fee.
